| Comrie returns to Senators in trade with Islanders The Canadian Press
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=267958&lid=headline&lpos=topStory_main
OTTAWA - Mike Comrie is headed back to the Ottawa Senators and he's bringing a puck-moving defenceman with him.
The Sens acquired Comrie and Chris Campoli from the New York Islanders on Friday in exchange for Dean McAmmond and a first-round draft pick.
Campoli possesses the offensive skill that Ottawa has been seeking for its defence. The 24-year-old had spent his entire career in Long Island and is under contract through next season at a reasonable US$675,000.
Comrie is currently earning $4 million and will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer. He spent a couple months with the Senators in 2007 and was part of the team that reached the Stanley Cup final.
The first-round pick heading to the Islanders originally belonged to San Jose.
McAmmond spent parts of the past three seasons in Ottawa and will join his eighth NHL team. The 35-year-old forward has played 916 regular-season games. |

| Ottawa definitely won this trade in the short term, we will see what the draft pick turns out to be. Looks like they are definitely making a push to get in the playoffs though being 13 points out and have 25 games left to go. Comrie is a good 2 way forward but lacks consistency overall. Anybody have any insight on campoli? |

| This trade kind of shocked me.
From an Islanders standpoint I get it. They know they're done for the year, so try to rack up 1st round picks.
But the Senators do not even have a guarantee they will make the playoffs and even if they do, they will squeak in the 7th or 8th spot. Mike Comrie is decent, but he isn't a game changer. Senators need to fix their goaltending problems if they plan on going going anywhere.
I think the Sens just threw away a first round pick which, assuming they dont make the playoffs could be a top 10 pick. |

The first round pick the Sens sent to the Isles was the Sharks first round pick that they traded in the Boyle deal to the Lightning and then sent it to Ottawa in the Meszeros deal. So ya that pick has moved around a bit hahah |

| Sens " In Red " ...Not Only Wearing It !!
The Ottawa Senators Hospitality / Support Committee has sent out letters of apology to newly acquired Comrie and Campoli from the Islanders....
The very same letters that were sent to Smith and Ruutu before the start of this season...
Starts off with.....
" We regret to inform you that you are an Ottawa Senator...." ..blah...blah....blah !! Please do not take this personally !
