Columbus still looking for No.1 center
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Columbus Dispatch reports the Blue Jackets will be looking to buy come the trade deadline, but the asking price for certain players may be too high.

The Blue Jackets are looking for a No.1 center and a puck-moving defenseman with a right-handed shot, but the paper suggests the price tag for such an asset would cost a first-round draft pick and top prospects.

Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson does not plan on trading away his top young talent, like Derick Brassard, Jakub Voracek, Nikita Filatov and Kris Russell, while he's reluctant to move his first-round pick for a rental player.

Howson is believed to be interested in Ottawa's Jason Spezza, Toronto's Nik Antropov and Pavel Kubina, and Anaheim's Todd Marchant.

The Blue Jackets are reportedly willing to move defenseman Rostislav Klesla, and the Dispatch reports Calgary, Ottawa, Buffalo and Colorado are interested.

TSN reported Friday the Sabres are entertaining the thought of trading often-injured center Tim Connolly, while the Avalanche is fielding calls for forwards Marek Svatos and Ryan Smyth, and defensemen John-Michael Liles, Ruslan Salei and Brett Clark, among others.
