TORONTO -- Following Justin Pogge's second consecutive Air Canada Centre start Thursday, the Maple Leafs will send the 22-year-old back to the AHL Marlies. Leafs head coach Ron Wilson announced the move this morning prior to Toronto's game against Columbus. Pogge, winless in his last three games after a win over Atlanta in his NHL debut before Christmas, will face rookie Steve Mason of the Blue Jackets.

"We'll get him down to the Marlies to gain more experience and hopefully have him back with us before the end of the season," Wilson said.

The Leafs will go with starter Vesa Toskala Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. Toskala underwent a precautionary MRI on his hip earlier this week, which Wilson says showed no structural damage.

"I thought I played well in the second and third periods (Tuesday) night against Buffalo and I'm looking to build off of that," Pogge said.

With a Columbus victory tonight, Ken Hitchcock would become the 13th head coach in league history to record 500 wins. The Blue Jackets won 4-3 against St. Louis Wednesday.
