Witt attracting plenty of interest

New York Islanders defenseman Brendan Witt is attracting a lot of interest from a number of teams as the trade deadline nears.

Witt, 33, is a hard-hitting, steady defenseman and despite his minus-26 rating, he's still a valuable commodity.

According to several published reports, the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres and Calgary Flames are all looking for a Witt-type defenseman and are believed to have inquired about his availability.

Witt isn't the only Islander peeking interest around the league. Forwards Bill Guerin, Doug Weight, Mike Comrie and Richard Park are supposedly on the block.
