| This is an ongoing debate for the last two years. Crosby vs Oveckin!! Who is better?
Sidney Crosby who has great passing skills and great hockey sense, he knows where to be at the right times. Has taken his penguins to the cup final in his second year in the NHL. Has won trophies such as the Hart Trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award, and Art Ross all in one season.
Alexander Ovechkin is a one man unit on the Washington Capitals. Everytime he touches the puck he change the outcome of a game. Amazing shot, undenied stickhandling ability and not afraid to mix things up in the corners. He also has won such trophies as the Hart Trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award, and Art Ross. Furthermore he has also won the Calder trophy as Rookie of the Year, and the Rocket Richard Trophy.
Both are on pace for the 2009 season to each get 106 points!!

| I would have to say Ovechkin!! Seriously is there anymore more exciting in the NHL then this guy??? This guy has so much passion for the game you just can't help but like him... He's got the shot, speed and physical side to the game!!! | |

| Theyre both two different players.
Crosby is the guy who will silently change a game by throwing in 4 assists.
Ovechkin is the guy you cant take your eyes off of or the puck will be in the net.
Crosby reminds me of Gretzky, where even if he isnt scoring, he is dishing the puck off to others giving them goals.
Ovechkin reminds me of Jagr. He is so dominant on the scoring side, but once you figure out how to slow him down (Jagr is 06-07 and 07-08) he is not much of a threat.
I would give the nod to Crosby.

| With all due respect to sniper, I would have to say there is no player in this era who plays with as much passion as Ovechkin.....his skills are above all and..... he will put you through the boards if you look at him differently.....absolutely love to watch him play !
Crosby is obviously one of the elite in NHL but Malkin can be as dominant a player when he wants to be....." OVE " will ground and pound you and more often than not, put the puck in the net....I truly cannot think of a more dominant, exciting player to watch today !

| I will have to say Ovechkin.... This guy looks like he is all over the ice every game I've seen him play.... He has an amazing shot. He has so much power, speed and energy. And isn't affraid to get physical. THIS GUY HAS IT ALL!!!!!!!! What an exciting player to have!!!!
I like Crosby but overall I think that Ovechkin is the better all around player. But could you imagine both these players on one line together?!

| Crosby, Ovechkin exchange words NHL notebook Canwest News Service Published: Sunday, February 22, 2009

NHL superstars Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin had words at the end of the second period during Sunday afternoon's game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.
"I was skating to the bench and he pushed me from behind so I gave him a shot back," Crosby told the Washington Times. "That's hockey and he likes to run around these days. That was it."
The Capitals won the contest 5-2, with Ovechkin scoring a goal and an assist and Crosby recording one helper.
"What can I say about Crosby?" Ovechkin said. "He is a good player, but he talks too much. I play hard and if he wants to hit me, he can hit me, not talk to you guys about who plays cheap and who plays dirty. That's my game . . . If he doesn't like it, it's his problem."
Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau chalked the affair up to frustration from the Penguins captain.
"Yeah, well he started it. Sidney was jawing at everybody," Boudreau told the paper. "Every time you come off, you see our bench talking to him and him talking to our bench. I think he got frustrated because he wasn't getting the freedom that he had before in previous games in this building."

| Ovechkin scored goals without much support over the last few years while Crosby has had a host of players around him to "help" him along. I'm not saying that Crosby doesn't have the talent, but I have to hand this to Ovechkin. He plays his game and keeps his mouth shut. He'll scrum with the best of them, take a hit and give one back. Being a Flyers fan, I love watching him and Mike Richards play against each other since it's always a battle. Ovechkin never gives up and I respect that...I'm hoping to see a Flyers/Caps playoff matchup again!
I had the opportunity of watching him play again last night when the Caps played the Flyers and I can say that I get nervous whenever I see him with the puck!
By the way, I'm not just saying this because I'm biased and don't like the Pens...lol

" By the way, I'm not just saying this because I'm biased and don't like the Pens...lol " Well said ....well, even the " I'm not biased remark !! One of the reason's why I like Crosby is because he also does not give up ....like I said, he may bitch and whine but he takes and gives......for a little guy, it's pretty impressive to NOT back down from idiots who go around hacking at him etc..... Also remember this....he spent several months at Lemieux's house and Mario likely dug up some old footage of himself back in the day when he whined as well ....so Syd really had no sense of direction in this regard !! Hacking at him? Are we possibly referring to Derian Hatcher taking out one of his teeth during his rookie year? lol. I agree that players take hacks at him but I really don't think it would have been as bad if he had learned to keep quiet. Part of my distaste for Crosby was that he was constantly running his mouth and made himself look like a crybaby. Over the last season(s) he's calmed down a bit but the reputation still follows him wherever he goes.
Crosby and Ovechkin are very talented players and each have their own style of play...both of which are scary to watch from an opposing teams point of view. They both play their hearts out and never give up...Crosby seemingly gets better when he gets ticked off! The last few years, I've referred to him as being a Flyer killer since (I believe) no other player has scored more points against them since he's joined the NHL. First impressions last a long time and as a rookie, Crosby lost my respect with his big mouth.
I'm sure Crosby was honored to have been mentored by one of the greatest players in the history of hockey but in my opinion, this only adds more weight to my seeing Ovechkin as the better player. Who was there to mentor him when he first joined the NHL?
