Penguins still searching for top winger

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, finding a top-line winger to play with Sidney Crosby remains a top priority for Penguins GM Ray Shero.

The Penguins have tried a number of players on Crosby's wing, but outside of Marian Hossa, Pittsburgh's captain hasn't meshed with anyone.

"If you play with Sid, you have to face the top defensive pairings in the league, game-in and game-out," Penguins coach Michel Therrien told the paper. "When you're playing on the third line, you're playing against the third pairing. It's really demanding to play with elite players like that. That's why you need special players."

Shero and his staff have shown an interest in Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis and Toronto's Nik Antropov, although the latter would be better suited on Evgeni Malkin's wing.

Sources tell TFP some in the Penguins organization are interested in Milan Hejduk of the Colorado Avalanche.

While a source confirmed there to be a difference of opinion on Hejduk within the Penguins management brass, the All-Star sniper has a no-trade clause and would have to approve any deal the Avs make.

St. Louis, meanwhile, also has a no-trade clause.

It's believed Shero is willing to trade defenseman Ryan Whitney or center Jordan Staal for a first-line wingman.

I could see doug weight going to pittsburgh depending on if his injury tonight wasn't that bad! I know he's not a winger but they could use a good 2nd or 3 line center for depth.
